The Krewe of the Brass Monkey

is a non-profit volunteer organization established in August of 2007, brought together by a strong group of dedicated individuals striving to make a difference in our community. All members are encouraged to volunteer with many local based charities, emphasis on but not limited to special needs. In the 16th and 17th century, the “Monkey” was a small coastal trading vessel, single mast, with a square sail. Members' costumes of colorful vest, knickers, colonial style shirts with black boots (jackets and hats optional),portray merchant traders of that time period. A “Powder Monkey”, who in early days, carried gun powder from magazines to cannons and performed other duties on warships, will service assecurity for our “traders”.
